Momentum Cheer is an all star cheerleading program based in Stoke on Trent, offering cheerleading classes to girls and boys of all abilities from the ages of 5 and over.
Until recently, the coaching team relied on home-made systems to run their club and process finances. But with the realisation that this was costing both time and money, they decided it was time to try Coacha. We spoke to Head Coach Kat Knowles to find out how it's helped to transform the way Momentum Cheer is run...
Q. What was it that attracted you to Coacha and why?
A. The biggest thing for us was the integration of Stripe. We spent a lot of our admin time last season chasing overdue payments and processing cash with no name attached, or direct debits with random surnames/references, trying to figure out which athlete they matched with.
As soon as we heard that there was a system that would simplify taking payments and help us to track which athletes have paid what, we were on it. It's definitely paid off. I reckon we spend about a quarter of the amount of payment admin time we did last year.
Q. How different is Coacha to any other providers you’ve tried?
A. We don't have any experience of any other providers as this is the first sports admin software that we've come across. But, as we said before, it's much better and easier than processing everything separately, and using things like Google Sheets to build our own systems. It's great to have software that's specially designed for what we do.
Q. Do you use Coacha’s payment system, Stripe, and is it useful to you?
A. We do, and it's a lifesaver - it's so useful to us. Being able to see who has paid what, on what dates, has enabled us to be so much more ‘on it’ with parents. We know exactly where they stand at a glance, and any missed payments can be rectified immediately thanks to Coacha’s payment request option. It's completely revolutionised the way that we take money. Parents are finding it simpler, and our whole staff team can now deal with payments for their own classes and teams in one centralised place that we can track. It was just too complicated for them to get involved with payments before.
Not only has it majorly cut down on the amount of time that we spend chasing and processing payments, it's also ensured that we bring a steady amount of money in on guaranteed dates, meaning we can be much more consistent with paying staff wages than ever before.
I just wanted to say that Coacha has made our admin run so much smoother after implementing it this season. All of our staff are so grateful to be able to process things so easily. We absolutely love it and couldn't imagine running our program without it now! You guys rock.
