Meet Our Team: Martin in Development

It’s no secret that the Coacha team has been expanding over the last few years. From talented bunches of people working remotely across the UK, to our dedicated team who are based at Coacha HQ in the Cotswolds. We’ve needed to expand our team to satisfy the demand for Coacha and it’s a very exciting time indeed!

With teams working on V2.5, V3, the iOS app and Support, we’ve recently been recruiting for the perfect fit to fill the gap in our development team. They needed to have the right skills and also just the right character to fit our perfectly formed team. After a lengthy recruitment process, we’re excited to finally introduce the newest member to the Coacha team, Martin!

Join us as we get to know Martin a little more.

The Important Stuff

Tea or Coffee? Tea… and it’s got to be strong!

How do you take your tea? A drop of milk and a sugar… although if I’m not trying to be good... 2 sugars. 😉

What did you want to be when you were younger?: I really wanted to be an Astronaut because I loved the solar system so much. But sadly there were no opportunities if you were based in the UK.

An interesting fact about you?: I don’t consider myself as very ‘interesting’, but I worked in hospitality for a while before I decided to re-focus my career on something I really enjoyed. And that’s how I ended up here. Also, my wife is from Poland and we often travel over to visit her family.

Favourite music?: I enjoy classic Pop/Dance.

Personal/Education

Where is your hometown?: I grew up in the Leckford Estate (Winchester). We moved to Worcestershire later on and I’ve been here ever since!

Do you have any hobbies?: I’m a big football fan (specifically Bristol City), I see around 10 games per season. Plus I love a nice walk.

Your favourite place to get away?: I just love relaxing in the Garden. Or getting away to Krakow (Poland) where my wife is from! It’s a beautiful city which was not destroyed by the Russians or Germans during the war, so there’s lots of culture to explore. Plus its fairly cheap… 😉

Are you interested in sport yourself?: I played Table Tennis in front of England Scouts years and years ago now! I love the football and support the mighty robins (Bristol City).

The very important stuff

Do you have any interesting job history?: I worked in Hospitality for 10 years before deciding to head into development. Although I enjoyed it, I love what I’m doing now.

Where did you train?: I’m actually just starting my last year at University of Gloucestershire studying Cyber Security BSc. I have an Extended Diploma level 3 in Computer Programming at Evesham College and Diploma in Management and Leadership in Hospitality. It’s fair to say I’ve been busy over the last few years!

Why did you initially want to get on board with Coacha?: For the chance to work with a progressing organisation who care about their users and are involved in providing software that helps sports coaches with admin and GDPR tasks.

What’s the best thing about working in your line of work?: Being able to use the skills I've developed and am very passionate about.

What’s your favourite part of your job?: Seeing objects come alive on the screen. It makes the work very satisfying.

Ambitions for the future: To continue learning and improving my skills, hopefully getting a 1st Class degree 😊 fingers crossed!
